All articles, extras and ingredients you want to offer on Gustaio can be created and edited here.
Articles or simply called menu. Here you create all articles that are offered for sale.
Ingredients are needed to create articles that offer customers the opportunity to edit the content of the article (e.g. pizza toppings). An ingredient can belong to several categories and is thus offered for selection when creating articles with the respective category.
In the Extras section you can create all additions that your customers can select in addition to an article.
Examples: Dough types, sauces, specialties
Using the "Add" button you can create new articles. Select the category of the article and fill in the fields. To edit the article you just need to click on it and the edit mode will open.
Recommendation: Always create articles in all three languages (DE, IT, EN).
For faster creation of similar articles there is the duplicate function. Simply hold your finger longer on the article overview until the context menu appears with which you can then copy the article and make your changes.
The ingredients field, where you select from your ingredients by clicking and the description of the article is automatically created in 3 languages, is only displayed if there are ingredients for the selected category.
NOTE: For the 3-language translation, the ingredient must contain all 3 languages.
You can also expand the description afterwards and write other things that are not an ingredient. However, you must deactivate the 'Override description' function below the field, otherwise the description will be regenerated when you click on an ingredient.
PRO TIP: Either only ingredient description by clicking or purely an article without ingredients. Mixed descriptions are not optimal!
When creating pizzas there is an additional function. From the selected ingredients, an image is automatically generated when saving the article which is displayed to the customer.
PRO TIP: When creating a new pizza, pay attention to the order in which you "top" the pizza when entering the ingredients so that every ingredient is visible and e.g. tomato sauce and mozzarella are always at the beginning of this order.
Example: For a ham-mushroom pizza you would first take the ham and then the mushrooms because they are smaller and would otherwise be covered by the ham.
What they are: Numbers that help your staff identify items quickly
Where to control: Settings → Menu → Show item number
When to use them: Helpful for kitchen communication and order tracking
On receipts: Shows on printed receipts when turned on
If you don't have an article available or no longer offer it, simply remove the checkmark next to it and the article will no longer be found in the shop. This saves you from having to recreate the article at a later time.
What it is: Hide items from customers without deleting them completely
Why it's useful: Keeps your order history intact while removing items you don't serve anymore
How it works:
What it is: Items that are only available at certain times
How to set it up:
When creating/editing an article you will find the option for "Time limitation". As soon as you activate this you can limit the article "Daily" or for a specific weekday.
What it controls: Who can order specific items
Your options:
What it does: Make items only available for dine-in (table orders)
Use case: Special items that can only be served in-restaurant
If you edit articles or add a new article that has an ingredient that is not available for selection, you must first create the ingredient.
NOTE: Articles created using ingredients can be edited by the customer. Available ingredients can be added and those present in the article can also be removed.
Recommendation: Pizzas should always be created using ingredients because images are generated from them!
Important for: Keeping customers safe and meeting legal requirements
Automatic detection: The system can find allergens when scanning menus with AI
Customer display: Allergen warnings show clearly to customers
Multiple languages: Allergen names work in different languages
To activate this, a base pizza with a starting price and the initial ingredients must be created in the menu under "Custom creations". Starting from this pizza, customers can then top the pizza as they wish.
You can allow your customers to individually top between 1 and 8 slices of a family or mammut pizza. To do this, you must activate the option in the article and define minimum and maximum number of slices.
You can create an article as a combo. This means you allow your customers to choose from different dishes for the defined fixed price.
Category combos: Let customers choose any item from specific categories
Mixed combos: Some specific items plus choices from categories
Fixed combos: Only specific items, no choices
Example: Create a lunch combo where customers choose one main dish, one side, and one drink for a fixed price
In the Extras section you can create all those things that can be selected as an addition to articles.
Important: Extras always belong to a category and can be selected for every article from this category.
You can also assign a group to the extra. Extras that are in the same group (e.g. dough types) can only be selected individually by the customer.
When creating extras you can choose whether an extra can only be ordered individually or multiple times. This way you can also define extras where the customer can specify the quantity when ordering.
