Table Management
Manage your restaurant's seating with an interactive floor plan. Define zones, assign tables, set capacities, and visually manage reservations.
Overview
Table Management in Gustaio Studio lets you create a visual representation of your restaurant's layout. Instead of managing tables as a simple list, you can design an interactive floor plan with drag-and-drop positioning.
Zones & Rooms
Organize your tables into logical zones that reflect your physical space:
- Indoor zones: Main dining room, bar area, private rooms
- Outdoor zones: Terrace, garden, patio
- Special zones: VIP area, event space
Creating Zones
Where to do it: Gustaio Studio → Setup → Table Plan → Add Zone
For each zone, you can define:
- Zone Name: A descriptive name (e.g., "Garden", "Main Hall")
- Zone Type: Indoor or outdoor
Managing Tables
Adding Tables
Where to do it: Gustaio Studio → Setup → Table Plan → Add Table
For each table, configure:
- Table Name/Number: How the table is identified (e.g., "Table 1", "T-12")
- Capacity: Maximum number of guests (seating capacity)
- Zone: Which zone the table belongs to
- Status: Active or inactive
Table Shapes
Tables can be displayed as different shapes on the floor plan:
- Square: Standard rectangular tables
- Circle: Round tables (great for larger groups)
- Rectangle: Long tables for banquets or groups
Floor Plan Views
List View
The default view showing all tables organized by zone in a structured list. Quick to scan and easy to manage for simple setups.
Floor Plan View (Grundriss)
The interactive visual view where tables are positioned on a canvas:
- Drag & Drop: Move tables around to match your physical layout
- Visual Zones: Each zone has its own canvas area
- Capacity Labels: See seating capacity at a glance next to each table
- Auto-Arrange: Automatically organize tables in a grid layout
Tip: The floor plan uses percentage-based coordinates, so your layout looks consistent on phones, tablets, and desktops.
Table Assignment for Reservations
When managing Experience reservations, tables can be assigned directly:
- Visual Assignment: See which tables are available and assign from the floor plan
- Overlap Detection: The system warns you if a table is already booked for the same time slot
- Capacity Check: Ensures the table has enough seats for the party size
Annotations
Add visual elements to your floor plan for better orientation:
- Labels: Mark areas like "Kitchen", "WC", "Bar", "Entrance"
- Walls and dividers: Indicate physical barriers between areas
Best Practices
Layout Design
- Match your floor plan to the actual physical layout of your restaurant
- Group tables by zone for easy management
- Use meaningful table numbers that staff can easily identify
Capacity Planning
- Set accurate capacity per table — this affects reservation availability
- Consider different configurations (e.g., pushing tables together for larger groups)
- Use zones to manage indoor vs. outdoor capacity separately
